What Being Vanic Means to Me
by Svartesól

    * Relating most to the Vanir Gods, that is to say the family of Frey.
    * Appreciation for the beauty of nature.
    * Respect for the destructive power of the elements, predatory animals, extremes of climate and terrain.
    * Studying the land and living in a way that is mindful of one’s impact upon it.
    * Giving honor to the land spirits and making alliances with them.
    * Magic as working in harmony with Wyrd, not striving against it.
    * Sensuality – mindfulness of taste, touch, smell, sound, sight, and appreciation for these senses.
    * Sacred sexuality – being comfortable with my orientation, my body, and my partner, and having a healthy, loving expression that creates physical and emotional pleasure.
    * Knowing oneself, being honest with personal strengths, weaknesses, inclinations, and tendencies.
    * Willingness to cooperate with others when needed.
    * Willingness to protect what one loves.
    * Fertility expressed as health of the body (or working towards health) and creativity of the mind.
    * Prosperity expressed as being a good steward and reasonably generous with one’s innangeard.
    * Gratitude for the simple joys in life.
    * Noticing the big picture of life, as well as the details surrounding people, places, and things.
    * The traditions of the past modified by pragmatism, for relevancy in the modern day.  (Times change and with it needs change, yet as some things change, some needs and desires of men and Gods stay the same.)
    * Deeds and being the change you wish to see in the world
